We slept in on Sunday (well, kinda) and went to the champagne brunch at the Main Street Station. My goal was to get Mike's sister Erin deucefaced, and in the process of doing that, I got TOTALLY deucefaced. I seriously don't drink that much. I have a beer at lunch with Mike once a week and that's about it, so it doesn't take much to get me deucefaced.
I had several mimosas with brunch, and I also had two champagne floats, which are exactly what you think they are: champagne and ice cream. DELICIOUS!
After we were done getting deucefaced on champagne served to us by a disapproving waitress, we headed over to the California where we commandeered a craps table. I lost $36 and only got one drink! We then went back to the Nugget where I used a drink coupon to get a beer from a rude bartender.
I insisted that our group go to the Atomic Liquors...Kim will take over from here...OK, Kim will not take over from here. She says she left, so she can't be responsible for it. Anyhoo, Atomic Liquors is an awesome local bar that I've wanted to go to for at least three years now and we finally went. They served Busch beer in cans for $1.25! Mark the bartender poured free shots for me and Mike, and we played pool and took over the jukebox. Mark did not like our song selections, though I did see him rocking out almost the entire time we were there. Half the group left to hit up the shark pool at the Nug and the rest of us stayed for a few more songs on the jukebox and bought tallboys to go (yes, the bar is that awesome!).
On the way Atomic Liquors, we passed the Western Hotel and Casino and said we wanted to go there later. It had a sign bragging about $1 craps and $2 blackjack. Needless to say, half of our group ended up at the Western playing blackjack for what seemed like forever. I was totally deucefaced and couldn't do any math, so Jose was telling me how to bet. I think I lost about $30 or $40, but we played for a long time and had fun.
We finally made our way back to the hotel and were like, "should we dress up?" Mike had gone to the strip with Erin and was apparently in his Mr. Furley outfit. We got dressed and made our way up and down Fremont Street, but no one really seemed to care that we were dressed up at all. We chalked it up to it being the summer of the 70s (there's a theme every year on Fremont Street and that was it). People probably thought we were dressed up for that.
We were pretty tired and a lot of us called it a night relatively early. We had started drinking (heavily) at 11am, so it was a miracle that we were standing upright at all.
I woke up at about 10 this morning to pack and felt pretty refreshed. No hangover, no nothin'. Mike went to McDonalds and got breakfast for us and we all sat and watched Maury give paternity test results.
All in all, we had a great weekend. I was worried about the large group, but it was a really good mix of people and we all had a lot of fun together. We're considering making Red hat Ladies a permanent theme because it was such a big hit.
Until next year, we're out!
